Bleh, I’m sick of the stuff (and Carlsberg too…). Amanda, if you’re not done your report yet, you should add that beer actually sucks. So do Singaporeans who insist that I can’t leave while they buy me beer. Don’t they understand that its full of calories and if I have another glass I’ve got to run around the block to burn it off? Bastards.
I can’t wait for Tuesday’s workout with Radiah. We’re doing 3 classes so it should be pretty intense.

Last night I had a fairly good time, I was going out to dinner with Amanda, which I knew would prove interesting despite whatever happened, as she is quite the conversationalist. So we were supposed to meet at 7:00pm, so I left at 6:00pm. She changed the time to 7:30pm, but that really didn’t stop me from still leaving at 6:00pm, since I’m just weird like that. So I arrived around 6:45pm at Bugis MRT… She got there about an hour later. lol. No worries, I always wait.
We ended up going to this really random Thai restaurant (First Thai, Parvis st?) that was just following a lot of really nice looking places. There was a Lamborghini parked in front of one establishment, and I was secretly hoping that I wasn’t being taken to some absurdly expensive restaurant like when I went to IndoChine with Jenni ($200!). So we arrived, and it was this nice quaint little place (like the Pho place in London) without Air-Con. No problems actually, this suited me quite well, as it reminded me of the myriad places that I like to frequent back home (Harvest Moon, Ben Thanh, the pho place, bubble tea… etc.).
I had some weird Iced Black Milk Tea which I was initially afraid of, but she convinced me that it was sweet and not bitter, so I went along with it. Not bad after all, I may get it again. I ordered Pad Thai (how original) and she ordered Papaya Salad (again, how original) which was served in the traditional Singaporean (or Asian?) way of mine coming about 20 minutes before hers. Despite her urging that I should eat before hers got there, it just isn’t in me to do so.
Finally after finishing our meal, she was trying to sneak a smoke on the non-smoking porch, so I just suggested that we leave. When asked where we were going, I said we were going for a walk. And walk we did. We walked from Bugis to her place near Tanah Merah, about 11.3km. That’s a really far walk, lol. We walked from about 8:30pm to 12:30am. We even walked through Geylang. But it was nonetheless a good time, lots of conversation was had (what else are you going to do during a 4 hour walk?), and she started opening up a little, breaking that Introverted shell, and helping me to see the things that make her, her. Always interesting, those things.
I hope that she takes some of the things that we discussed to heart, because I do think that they may be worthwhile pieces of information. After the walk, which I insisted that we finish by making it to her place despite her wanting to stop and take the bus several times (you can’t give up!), I ran from her house about 1KM or so to the main road, and snagged a cab since it was after 12:00am, and the MRT was no longer running. The cab cost $30, but it was no big deal. I wasn’t going to give up and concede defeat for that kind of money.
There you have it, my Monday night. One of the more interesting Monday evenings I have had in a while, and more emphasis on the unusual walking that I have been doing lately. Who knows, maybe I’ll walk to Toronto someday. Today I have lunch with Jessie at 2:30pm, work-out with class and with Radiah at 6:00pm – 8:00pm, and then I’ll be heading home, since Radiah had to cancel dinner plans due to family issues. I guess I’ll write my paper instead.
Oh, just a quick note about class. I find that random girls wave to me when I’m around campus, and I sheepishly wave back, but I have no idea where they are from. I think I’ve concluded that they are in my aerobics classes, but I just don’t recognize them when they actually wear make-up and dress in non-yoga pants. I apologize to all those people I ignore, and I’ll make an effort to recognize your face, if not your name.
Casey, there is some festival goin on in Tokyo the weekend before we leave. Hopefully we can catch some of it before we go. Love you!

Though I can often keep my weekdays occupied with friends from school, it really is hard to keep busy on weekends. There is just not a whole lot to do around here if you’re alone. The biggest problem is I live way out in the middle of nowhere, and everyone else lives on the East side. Not that I mind taking the MRT out to go hang out with someone, as that really isn’t a big deal for me.
Just lemme know and if I have time, I will come out. SMS me, please. lol. Otherwise I will have to actually do work, and that would not be the best outcome
